Areas of Focus
Survivors of Violence:
If you are a survivor of violence and are having trouble emotionally regulating, trouble focusing, unable to trust, easily startled, having flash backs, or prolonged depression and anxiety, these are common trauma responses. Survivors of violence, especially survivors of sexual violence and domestic violence, often have feelings of shame, rage, and hopelessness. These feelings do not have to last forever and can be managed.
My approach to trauma is supporting you in building resilience by creating and utilizing a strong support system, seeing the traumatic experience in a new light, and building self-esteem.
Harm Reduction Substance Use Support:
Are you looking for non-judgmental support to help you take a look at your relationship with drugs and alcohol? Do you need someone to help you have a stronger understanding of your use patterns and support you in making changes that are right for you?
My approach to harm reduction therapy is having a collaborative conversation to find out what works best for you. We do this by helping you prioritize your goals, focus on reducing the harms, and helping you evaluate what is working and what is not.
LGBTQ+ Community:
Are you looking for someone within the community to support you in coming out, gender transition, or exploring your sexual identity? As a queer therapist, I can support you in issues that relate to your sexuality and gender, or just the everyday challenges and life issues that arise.
